Developer Participation in Software Engineering Research

We are researchers at Virginia Tech exploring ways to improve the behavior, productivity, and decision-making of software engineers. This study proposes a novel approach to encourage software professionals to participate in software engineering-related (SE) research studies. SE research seeks to design, study, explore, and improve processes to develop and maintain software applications. However, in the majority of cases participants in SE research experiments are not software engineers- but Computer Science students. In this study, participants can anonymously share their experiences with research and have the option join a novel system that acknowledges the effort of professional developers for participating in SE studies.
